Conference paper presentation:
"The Necessity of Time in Charles Brockden Brown's Wieland," by Trina Sotira
Midwest Conference on Literature, Language, and Media
Northern Illinois University
DeKalb, IL
April 9-10

Trina Sotira will trace the time trope in the Wieland, highlight anxieties caused by time, and discuss how timeliness (the novel's publication) helped to work the text into history. In addition, she will demonstrate how writers can incorporate Brockden Brown's practice of using time to inject suspense into their own work. Later, she will spontaneously combust like the elder Wieland.

Trina Sotira teaches writing workshops for a variety of age groups from kindergartners to college students. She is also available for speaking engagements. If interested, please fill out the contact form.
